Where to Eat & Drink in Playas del Coco — All on Foot

The best thing about Coco? You don't need a car at dinner time. From our condo it's a two-minute walk to the main street, and everything below is within fifteen minutes on foot.

Breakfast & coffee

• Local cafés on the main strip pour proper Guanacaste coffee; look for gallo pinto with eggs as the classic start.
• Bakeries open early — grab pan casero before a beach morning.

Lunch like a local

• Sodas — family-run Costa Rican kitchens where a casado (rice, beans, plantains, salad and your choice of protein) runs a fraction of tourist-menu prices. This is the food memory you'll take home.
• Fish tacos and ceviche — it's a fishing port; whatever came off the boats today is the move.

Dinner & drinks

• Beachfront dining — a row of restaurants along the bay does surf-and-turf, wood-fired pizza and cold Imperial with your toes nearly in the sand.
• International spots — Italian, Mediterranean, sushi and steakhouses have all planted flags in Coco as the town has grown.
• Sunset bars — the promenade fills up around 5pm; arrive 30 minutes before the show.
• Nightlife — Coco keeps later hours than most Guanacaste beach towns; live music on weekends and a casino for the curious.

Self-catering

Two full-size supermarkets (Auto Mercado and Luperón) plus fruit stands are a short walk from the condo — our full kitchen with new stainless appliances and the patio BBQ are ready when the day's catch follows you home.
